NoodleTools Full Tutorial

Learn how to use NoodleTools effectively. This guide will show you how to generate citations, bibliographies, and create and manage your notes. NoodleTools can compose citations in MLA, APA, and Chicago/Turabian styles.

So you want to create a citation?

You've made reference to your source in your essay or project and you want to create a citation. Depending on the citation style, you might be adding the citation within your body of text or as a footnote (at the end of your text). For example, MLA and APA are both citation styles that appear within your body of text, while Chicago/Turabian appears as an endnote. This is not the same as a bibliography or a full list of references that appear at the end of your essay or project. When you're creating an individual citation, this is for when you're telling your reader where exactly you found your information.

To add a citation, click on the three dots of the source that you are interested in. A dropdown menu will appear, click on in-text citation.

A new menu will open up. There is a lot of information on this menu that explains your chosen citation style. This can be helpful if you have any questions, such as what happens if you are citing two different papers by the same author and the same publication date.

If you just want the citation, at the very top you will see an example. If you need to reference particular pages, you can type them into the box and then copy the citation generated.
