So, you're ready to add your first source!
To add a new source, click the large green button in the upper right corner.
A pop-up menu will appear asking what type of source you would like to add. Select the option that matches best with your source. Note, if you want to add an article from an online journal or website, you can choose either 'database' or 'website'.
Another pop-up menu will appear, asking for more details. Select the option that best describes your source. In this example, we will be selecting book.
Once you've selected your item type, you can begin to fill out the details of your source. Look at your source, if it's an article, you can usually find details about the article on the source. If it's a book, you can find the full title, publisher, and copyright information on the title page and reverse title page. Ask yourself some of the following questions:
However, if you have a unique identifying number, such as an ISBN (used to uniquely identify books, you can find this information on the reverse title page) or a DOI number (used to uniquely identify articles), you can put this into the import ISBN or DOI field and search.
In this example, NoodleTools will search WorldCat using that ISBN. It'll show you the match(s) that it found. Check the details and if it is the same as your source, select it and choose "Import Selected Source". NoodleTools will autofill the citation fields for you.
If you are happy with the information describing your source, press save.
If there is a particular chapter or section you are using, you can also specify it under the Chapter or Section drop down menu and fill out the details.
Yay! Congratulations, you've added your first source. Feel free to click and play around around with the various options. Exploration of a new tool is the best way to learn it.
