Tip
Statistics are useful for immigration for establishing the size and outlines of a subject: how many people are involved, where they are located in the United States, countries of origin, demographic characteristics. However, statistics cannot answer WHY a certain pattern exists. Once you've used statistics to establish there is a pattern, turn to the research literature and perhaps to other primary sources to determine why the numbers are as they are.
